There are a number of sources of information, help and advice in relation to seeking housing, as follows:
- The EdIndex website has advice on ‘Your housing options’ and in the section entitled ‘Frequently asked Questions’.
- Each Edinburgh Council Locality office has staff who can give housing advice, including assessing those threatened or actually homeless.
- There is a Council Advice Shop at 249 High Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1YI, telephone 0131 200 2360, with information online.
- There are several Citizens Advice Bureaux in Edinburgh.
- Shelter Scotland have a good website with:
- General housing advice for Scotland
- Shelter phone/live chat or telephone them on 0808 800 4444.
There is a considerable shortage of housing in Edinburgh, especially of social rented housing. You should consider other options if possible, especially if you have the income or resources for other tenancy types.
